The Friends of the Metuchen Public Library extends an invitation to the public to attend their annual meeting on Tuesday, October 19th. The meeting will be held in the Library Community room at 7:30 p.m. The event is an occasion to meet and chat with Library Trustees and Friends.

The guest speaker will be Dr. Marc Mappen, who has been described by the New York Times as “the eminent New Jersey historian” and is the author of Jerseyana: The Underside of New Jersey History. Dr. Mappen is also the co-editor of The Encyclopedia of New Jersey and is a contributor to numerous publications as well as television and radio programs.

Dr. Mappen’s talk will feature the famous Orson Wells 1938 War of the Worlds radio broadcast. Copies of Dr. Mappen’s most recent book, There’s More to New Jersey Than Just the Sopranos, will be available for purchase and signing.

The Metuchen Public Library is located at 480 Middlesex Avenue in Metuchen, next to the Metuchen Borough Hall. Parking is available behind the Library on Library Place. For further information call (732)632-8526.
