The 6th Annual Metuchen Junebug Artfest is here and planners and participants are abuzz with excitement!

Each year, the Metuchen Area Chamber of Commerce and Metuchen Arts Council are proud to sponsor the Artfest as it brings magic to downtown Metuchen every Friday evening in June and this year will be no different. The dates for 2013 are June 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th from 6:00 – 10:00 pm on Main Street. The unveiling of the 2013 original Junebug ArtFest sculpture, created by former chairperson Linda LaStella, will be opening night, this Friday, June 7 at 6pm outside The Metuchen Savings Bank office at 429 Main Street.

Junebug features local artists who showcase a wide spectrum of finished pieces and live performances. Interactive activities throughout the festival provide visitors to the event an opportunity to explore their artistic inclinations. This year’s exciting Junebug will feature many returning artists and new participants including outstanding glass work artists, renowned painters, illustrators, popular photographers, jewelry makers, and nearly 100 other visual artists are expected to participate.

Be sure not to miss a Drum Circle with over 100 drums on June 7th at 6:30pm at the Metuchen Senior Center as well as special performances each night of Junebug. A plethora of jazz, rock performers, and “boy bands” will pave the way for live dance performances and open-mic sessions at various locations. Balloon makers and chalk walks will delight the senses of all. And be on the lookout for our volunteer hosts in Junebug t-shirts who will be handing out event schedules throughout each night!

Each year the festival grows in number and variety of artists and visitors from all across Central New Jersey and neighboring states. The sense of “artistic community” is infectious.
