Track and Field Camp

(Camp is open to 5th-12th graders at all levels) Under the direction of All-American and NJ State Champions, Jen Graf and Tyrone Ross, this one week program is designed to provide specific training techniques and conditioning methods to help athletes improve at their events.

Summer Playground Program: Open to youngsters 6-13 years old. A 6-week program which will include sports, games, arts & crafts, special events, and trips.

Playground site: Oakland Park (Oakland Avenue)
June 28 – August 6 (no camp July 5)
Time: 9am – 3pm

TENNIS CAMP: (Grades 5-8)

A fun, instructional approach focusing on learning and improving strokes, coordination, and overall knowledge of the game. Consists of 1, 2, or 3 one-week sessions where participants will receive specialized instructions from Rob Strauss, Metuchen HS Varsity Tennish coach. The camp will run Monday through Thursday with rainouts played on Fridays. Whether you’ve never stepped on a court or have been playing for years, this is the camp for you! Enrollment is limited and minimum attendance is required. Must provide your own racquet.

ART ADVENTURES

In this workshop, young artists will have lots of fun experimenting with various art techniques and materials to make beautiful projects to bring home. Taught by elementary school art teacher Wendi Cohen and children’s book illustrator Kim Alderman. Fee includes materials.

THEATER CAMP

Week 1 – August 2-6 (9am-12pm) $145/week
Theater Games for the Young Actor (Going into Grades 1, 2 and 3)
A new camp this year with the drama instructors from Metuchen’s own The Kids Theater Experience offers a wonderful week for the ‘young theater lover’. Here kids will explore acting and theater basics through games and even ‘treasure hunts’. Strictly an instructional class, your young artists will enjoy learning about improvisation, stage voice and movement, staging and even some puppetry as a craft project.

This is a wonderful way to build self esteem by helping young students trust their own unique imagination through creative learning and theater. Instructional focus will be on collaboration, teamwork and fun. On the last day of camp, students can share what they have learned with their special grown-up at our ‘theater demonstration’. Week 2 – August 9-13 (9am-12pm) $145/week
Acting 101 for the Young Actor (Going into Grades 4, 5 and 6)
An instructional camp for the budding performer! No audition necessary, but an interest for theater is a must! Come learn the ins and outs of acting and theater with the drama instructors from the The Kids Theater Experience. The week will focus on exploring many aspects of acting with theater games, stage voice and movement exercises, staging basics and critical thinking skills with improvisation. This fun week gives students a chance to improve life skills such as public speaking, oral presentations and leadership opportunities that develops self-confidence that will stay with them.

Week 2 – August 9-13 (1pm-4pm) $145/week
Acting for the Young Teen Actor – Going into Grades 7, 8 and 9)
This is an instructional camp for the young teen actor. No audition necessary, but a more serious interest in theater and respect for peers is a must. Come experience acting lessons like never before. Taught by instructors from The Kids Theater Experience, you will get a variety of life lessons tied into acting and theater. Use you natural acting skills in everyday issues through theater games, stage voice projection and movement exercises and theatrical staging. Students will develop critical thinking skills, leadership skills, confidence and public speaking skills. This fast paced week will culminate in a theater demonstration. Class is limited.
