Sharon Goldman is a NJ-based contemporary singer-songwriter known around the Tri-State area and beyond for her intelligent, inventive storytelling, catchy melodies and pure, precise vocals. Her newest album, KOL ISHA (A Woman’s Voice), takes her artistry in a new and unique direction: She has dug deep into her Orthodox Jewish childhood and emerged with a song cycle that traces her own journey to find her voice as a passionate woman; a lifelong questioner; and a constant seeker. She delves into memories of prayers and rituals; of roads not taken; and of voices not heard (The concept of Kol Isha is found in traditional Jewish communities, where women are not supposed to sing publicly in front of men). She also mines the stories of biblical and mythical women — such as Lilith, the Sabbath Queen and the lovers in the Song of Songs for creative inspiration.

Joining Sharon on July 15 are:

CAROLINE COTTER, Portland, ME: With a captivating soprano voice and award-winning songwriting, Caroline’s songs take you from an intimate Parisian salon to the mountains of Colorado and into the depths of the human heart. She has been on the road touring non-stop throughout the US and Europe, playing over 200 shows a year.

LOIS MORTON, Huntington, NY: Lois has delighted audiences throughout the New York metropolitan area with her abundant charm and humorous songs of social commentary. Reinventing herself in retirement, Lois has gone from being an educator and therapist to a singer-songwriter with a rapier wit and a surprisingly contemporary approach.

JOHN SONNTAG, Lambertville, NJ: A roadwise singer-songwriter with “a voice from heaven and a soundtrack of groove and grit,” John has gone from valued session player and onstage sideman to sought-after producer and prized solo performer.
