What’s more fun than a barrel full of monkeys? Sheep on Show! What’s that? A newcommunity art event for ages and skill levels, organized by the Borough Improvement League’s Transformations Gallery chairs with support from the Metuchen Arts Council.

The event will place on Sunday, May 18, 2014 from 1pm to 5pm at the Franklin Schoolhouse at 491 Middlesex Avenue in Metuchen and will feature a variety of activities; music by Celtic songstress Mary Shannon, a collaborative Yarn Bombing project (bring your knitted bits to add!), and central part to all of this will be a PYOS, or Paint Your Own Sheep, activity. Participants will paint their own nearly-life-size wooden sheep. The sheep willgather in the pasture (okay, schoolhouse lawn) while they dry, and then at the end of theday, they are yours to take home to sheep, er, keep. The cost to PYOS is $20 per sheep, and includes materials at the schoolhouse. Download an idea template and reservation form from the BIL website at www.boroughimprovementleague.org. Feel free to bring your own materials (bling, stickers, fabric, etc.) and make sure to wear something you don’t mind getting paint on!
