On Sunday, November 28, Main Street Metuchen was teeming with excited kids both young and old for the 57th Annual Winter Festival Parade. The theme of this year’s fun-filled family event parade is “Sounds of the Season”. Principal sponsor of the day’s festivities is Solaris Health System/JFK Medical Center.

Supporters of this year’s parade include Black Belt Institute, Body & Brain Yoga Tai Chi, Costello-Runyon Funeral Home, Keller Williams Elite Realtors, Kids in Production, Law Office of Cheryl Craft, Mark P. Marcille, Architect, Martin & Son Jewelers, Ms. Doreen’s Fabulous Feet School of Dance, Silvia’s Tailoring, Spice Melange, and Topping The Web.

This long standing tradition in the Metuchen community featured music by Metuchen High School Marching Band, St. Joseph High School’s Holiday Combo, The Banjo Rascals, Fred Lehotay’s Ragtime Band, American Celts Pipes and Drums, and the All Star Mummers.

The parade started at 2:00 pm from the Edgar School field and was front and center on Main Street at about quarter after the hour. Main street was ligned with excited children waiting for the man in the red suit! The kids also took the opportunity to collect Trading Cards from the officer of the Police Department who recently launced this trading card contest.

The festivities culminated at the Metuchen Senior Center where Santa entertained the children complete with hot chocolate provided by the Metuchen Recreation Department. Everyone left with a smile on their faces for a wonderful parade matched only by the perfect weather!
