Photos and Story by Heather Lee – If there is one thing I have learned, it’s that once Tyreen Reuter gets an idea in her head, it is going to happen.

Queen of the B.I.L.(Borough Improvement League), she has made so much happen in our little town. Whether it be getting a port-o-potty installed at Olmeazer Park, to creating a safe haven for our town’s citizen’s with the Crosswalk Flag Program, to fun charitable events like The Zombie Walk, she get’s it done.

So when I first heard that c/o Tyreen, Metuchen would have it’s own Octoberfest. dubbed “Beerfest ’13” I wasn’t a sceptic. I knew she would pull it off. And she did, with great success!

With over 200 tickets sold in the last few weeks, and a few left over at the door, this sold out event was a smashing success! For 25.00 partiers were treated to an unlimited sampling of an assortment of seasonal beers from regional craft brewers, including micro-brews and hard ciders. There were food vendors, bands, and a dj which kept the crowd going all day long! Local businesses were on scene to contribute to the days evens as well!

The official musical lineup included

  • “Seapost” featuring Renee Maskin
  • DJ Erik
  • “Baldwin Book Of Reality” featuring Zack Leffand, Ben Davis, Dan Cotton, and Mike Regan.
  • The Roadside Graves’ “Jeremy Benson and Friends.”

With a pig roast, 50/50 raffle, and lots of give-aways, this event was a win win for all who attended!
I am sure Tyreen and the BIL will be hosting it for years to come!
