Representatives of the Metuchen Area Chamber of Commerce invite you to join them, along with Metuchen Mayor Thomas Vahalla at an official Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Monday, November 8th, at 6:00 pm, as we celebrate the new location of Metuchen Dance Centre.

June Vaganek, owner of Metuchen Dance Centre, has been serving the Metuchen community for 29 years, and is “thrilled that the dance studio and boutique will now be in the heart of downtown”. June holds a Masters Degree in Dance, and all of her teachers are DEA certified, with many holding Bachelor Degrees in Dance. For almost three decades, Metuchen Dance Centre has been a leader in dance education. Their reputation for inspiring young people to be the best they can be is one of the primary reasons for their success. When they say “the best dancers they can be” they speak inclusively of every student, whether they are preschool, recreational, or intensive students.

They believe a teacher’s influence on the future of a student extends far beyond what goes on in the classroom. Their teaching philosophy is centered on instilling a passion for dance while building self esteem and confidence in every child. The student’s well being is priority, their capability secondary.

Basic classes being offered include Ballet/Pointe R.A.D. (Royal Academy of Dancing syllabus), Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, Modern, Lyrical and Musical Theatre for students of all ages. The “Kid Stuff” program being offered is for the youngest dance student (2 years old) and is a 45 minute class. Special 12-week adult classes include Belly Dancing, Zumba, Cardio Sculpting, Yoga, Pilates, and Ballroom Dancing. In addition, adults can take full year courses in ballet, jazz and tap. June’s teen dance company, “Dance Reflections”, is a performance company that requires auditions for students ages 12 and up. These serious dance students rehearse and take workshops with professional choreographers, in addition to their regular classes. Summer musical theater/dance camp and summer workshops are available to their dancers so they can be productive all year long.

Dedicated to giving back to the community, June’s dancers have entertained many spectators over the years at events such as the Country Fair, Winter Festival Parade, Annual Christmas Tree Lighting, Junebug ArtFest and many nursing home facilities. Their annual school recital features all students and genres of dance, and the concert in the spring features the Dance Reflections Performance Company. The bi-annual Duke Ellington’s Nutcracker has delighted audiences for years.

The brand new Dance Boutique will carry a full line of dancewear for both boys and girls, including leotards, tights, dance shorts and pants, sweaters, hair accessories and shoes. Of course, Metuchen Dance Centre active-wear will also be available, and eventually, jewelry for that special dancer in your life will make it to the boutique’s shelves.

The studio and boutique are open Monday (1:00 — 9:30), Tuesday (10:00 — 9:00), Wednesday & Thursday (10:00 — 10:00), Friday (10:00 — 8:00) and Saturday (9:00 — 2:00).
