Edgar Middle School 7th grade science classes participated in a month long investigation of the life cycle of Monarch butterflies. While successfully raising the caterpillars to adulthood, they researched information about their care, behavior, anatomy, and current decline in population.

With mixed feelings of sadness and excitement, students released the adult butterflies in early October to begin their 4,000 km journey to Mexico. Afterwards, the students created personal symbolic butterflies to mail to schools in Mexico as part of an international goodwill “ambassador” program sponsored by Journey North.

This class project is spear-headed by science teacher, Judy Graziano.
