METUCHEN AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE ANNOUNCES WINTER FESTIVAL PARADE

The Metuchen Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the activities planned to kick off this year’s holiday season. Join us on Sunday, November 25 at 2:00pm on Main Street in Metuchen for our 59th Annual Winter Festival Parade. The theme of this year’s parade continues to be “The Season of Giving.” JFK Medical Center is delighted to once again be the Principal Sponsor of this fun-filled family event. Hailey’s Harp & Pub is a Silver Sponsor. The YMCA of Metuchen, Edison, Woodbridge and South Amboy, Metuchen Savings Bank, The Criterion News, The Provident Bank, and the New Jersey Convention & Expo Center are Bronze Sponsors. Supporters are Methfessel & Werbel, Black Belt Institute, and Topping the Web. Our sponsors would love for you to celebrate the holiday season with them.

As this year’s theme continues to be “The Season of Giving,” we are excited to announce that the Salvation Army will be joining our parade this year to collect non-perishable food items and unwrapped toys to help needy families in the area and replenish local food pantries. Volunteers from our community and the Salvation Army will be collecting items as the parade progresses through town- the goal is to fill up the van! There will be donation bins placed at the review stand at the corner of Main Street and New Street as well as the Salvation Army “Canteen Truck” parked at the Metuchen Senior Citizens Center to collect donated items. Also, please consider donating an unwrapped toy to the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation. Some of the official drop-off sites in Metuchen are at Hailey’s Harp & Pub and George’s Dry Cleaning and Tailoring.

This long standing tradition in the Metuchen community will feature music by Metuchen High School Marching Band, St. Joseph High School’s Falcons Holiday Combo, The Banjo Rascals, Fred Lehotay’s Ragtimers Band and more! You won’t want to miss the floats, children, and of course, Santa! The parade kicks off at 2:00 pm, weather permitting, at the corner of Brunswick Avenue and Main Street. Participants will travel down Main Street and turn onto New Street to end in the Pearl Street parking lot. Be sure to join us at the Metuchen Senior Center at the conclusion of the parade for a visit with Santa and hot chocolate provided by the Metuchen Recreation Commission.
