via powertolearn.com – In honor of Women’s History Month, Power to Learn has partnered with C-SPAN to bring a “First Ladies: Influence and Image” learning experience to the 6th grade students at Edgar Middle School. “First Ladies” tells the stories of the women who served in the role of first lady over the last 44 presidential administrations. The students utilized content from C-SPAN to research each of the First Ladies they decided to focus on, specifically Hillary Clinton, Eleanor Roosevelt, Betty Ford, Dollie Madison, Jacqueline Kennedy, Edith Wilson and Michelle Obama, and put together Prezzi presentations to an audience of their peers, school officials and parents. Assemblywoman Pinkin attended the event and participated in a Q&A with the students following their presentation.

“First Ladies have held pivotal roles in history throughout the years and it’s important that young people appreciate the many contributions that these amazing women have made to our nation,” said Assemblywoman Pinkin. “I’d like to thank the students for their engaging and informative presentations and also Cablevision and C-SPAN for a program that helps make history come alive.”
