What’s more fun than a barrel full of monkeys? Sheep on Show!

What exactly is that, you ask? Well, it’s a new community art event being organized by the gallery chairs of the Old Franklin Schoolhouse with support from the Metuchen Arts Council.

The afternoon will feature a variety of activities at the schoolhouse – there will be music by Celtic songstress Mary Shannon, a collaborative Yarn Bombing project, and central part to all of this will be a PYOS, or Paint Your Own Sheep, activity! Participants will paint their own nearly-life-size wooden sheep, already primed and staked. The sheep will gather in the pasture (okay, schoolhouse lawn) while they dry, and then at the end of the day, they are yours to take home to sheep. Er, keep.

The cost to PYOS will be $20 per sheep, and includes materials at the schoolhouse. You can download an idea template from the BIL website soon. To pre-reserve your sheep, email info@boroughimprovementleague.org or (after May 4th) call 862-368-2202. ALSO, they’ll need some volunteers to help out that day, so let them know if you are interested!

Be on the lookout for special artist-embellished SHEEP around town over the next month!
