The Metuchen Public Library will sponsor two free college-prep programs for high school students. The College Visit and Interview Workshop will be held on Monday evening July 12 from 7:30-8:30 PM and is geared to all rising high school juniors and seniors.

Learn why it’s important to make an official visit to a college before you apply and what to expect from the tour, the information session and the interview. Practice questions will be provided and participants will work one-on-one with their peers to practice the skills that make for a stand out applicant.

The College Application Essay is a three-session workshop to be held on Tuesday August 10, Tuesday August 17 and Thursday August 19 from 7 PM until 8:30 PM. In this workshop, rising high school seniors will learn what makes a good essay by looking at samples, brainstorming for ideas, personalizing their writing, and editing their work. By the time participants leave this workshop, they will be well on their way to having a polished product. This program will be led by an experienced, certified English teacher who is currently teaching in a Middlesex County public high school.

For more information or to register, call 732.632.8526 or email KLiss@Lmxac.org. Both programs are free to Metuchen residents only and paid for by The Friends of the Metuchen Public Library.
