The annual Metuchen Junebug Artfest opened Friday June 5th to a large crowd up and down Main Street!

Officially opening the Art Festival was the unveiling of this year’s Annual Junebug Sculpture by local artist, educator, illustrator and designer Lauren Rabinowitz, famously know around town as the Cartoon Goddess.

The Junebug Artfest was founded 8 years ago by resident and ceramic artist, Linda Vonderschmidt-La Stella. The event attracts hundred of local residents as well as townsfolke from nearby cities every Friday night in June. It transforms Main Street Metuchen into a month-long celebration of the arts. This year, hundred of visual and performing artists participate in open air exhibits, window galleries, live music, interactive art events and open-mic sessions.

The “Brainy Boro” – Metuchen NJ – has been a mecca for artists of every discipline for more than a century. Sponsored by the Metuchen Area Chamber of Commerce, the Metuchen Cultural Arts Commission and the JuneBug ArtFest Committee.

Junebug Artfest is held from 6:00 – 10:00 pm every Friday evening in June (June 5th, 12th, 19th and 26th).
